A new trend has emerged these days that women prefer travelling solo.

Don’t wait for your friends or family to reply to your travelling proposal, just book your flight and fly away for your long awaited journey.

Lakshmi Sharath, who gave up her cushy corporate job after working 15 years to travel the world, quotes “Travelling is not really a job, it’s a way of life”. For her, solo travelling gives flexibility to do what  you want and when you want but safety and security is the most important picture. She shares that her memorable experience was when she travelled to Europe for a campaign. A woman travelling alone may sound absurd sometimes but many women travel alone and they love it. If you have travelled alone you must have come across questions like

Are you not afraid? or Is it safe? Travelling with a group of friends or family can be incredibly fun and full of memories which will bind us with memories for a lifetime but if you are travelling alone you can be the master of your own destiny, you can get to do whatever you want, you alone have to take decisions and participate in it. Decisions such as where to go, how to go arises when you finally plan to travel alone. People hold many preconceptions about solo travelling but the reality maybe different once you experience it. Bhagyashree Khandare , another solo traveller who started travelling 3-4 years ago, says “Solo travelling was difficult in the start because of the fear that you are going to a complete new place where you have no connections. But despite of all the things which are holding you back, you just have to go and reach your goal. Once you achieve, the fear eventually goes away and you experience a lot about different culture and people. It is tiring to wait for people to go with you so just stop waiting and live your dream”.

When you are standing alone on a street surrounded by strangers you might find yourself because travelling solo means you have to face challenges and within that you will find who you are, what you want, what you care about and what else do you want to do with your time now. You may feel that a woman travelling alone maybe more difficult than having fun but Emily Boral who travelled solo once when she was worked down with her life and needed some fresh air, without thinking anything she booked a flight to Goa at midnight, she met new people and made amazing friends. At the age of 31 she wanted to do something adventurous and this trip gave her exactly what she needed. She says “My life was very boring but now this trip changed my life and I am a completly different person now. This trip taught me how to live out of my comfortable zone and would recommend everyone to try experience solo travelling at least once in their lifetime”

Don’t wait for your friends or family to reply to your travelling proposal, just book your flight and fly away for your long awaited journey. It can be scary sometimes to be around total strangers but you may also find some exciting friendships and connections. And most importantly you get FREEDOM!  You rely completly on yourself, you don’t have to make any compromises with others about food or stay. Albert Einstein once said  “The woman who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd.

The woman who walks alone is likely to find herself in places no one has ever been before.” So, ladies its time to live your  ‘Yahoo’ moment.
