A woman for women

Trisheetaa Tej will represent India at the BRICS International Seminar for Women and Youth Empowerment.

Writer and entrepreneur Trisheetaa Tej has been given a special honour by the Government of India — she is one among five people chosen to represent the nation at the BRICS Youth Leadership Seminar, which will be held in Russia from April 20 to 27. The excitement in her voice is palpable, more so because she is the only one chosen from South India.

“This is a proud moment for me — something beyond my imagination. Our enterprise is still young and has a long way to go. Recently, I was chosen as the Best Social Leader 2017 by MSME, Government of India and BRICS International Forum. It is at the awards event that my work was appreciated. I was overwhelmed to know that I was being considered for this role, and I received the confirmation call about a week ago,” share shares.

Trisheetaa has been selected for the seminar because of her enterprise, which provides a platform for women across the globe to work from home. “I started the venture in 2014 during a casual chat with my husband. We came up with a simple work-from-home idea — a full-fledged endeavour that gives women flexibility, comfort and ease of work without disturbing their marital life or motherhood. We were just two women when we started off. Today, over 235 women work with us,” she says.

Interestingly, Trisheetaa is an MBA graduate with a dual degree in HR and Marketing and is also a certified Clinical Nutrition Specialist.

“Being an entrepreneur was unplanned. I wanted to become a doctor initially. I’ve always wanted to promote women and youth empowerment and the BRICS forum will be a great platform to propagate my ideas. This summit is all about exchanging our views and experiences about entrepreneurship, global women empowerment, cultural, humanitarian and professional cooperation,” shares Trisheeta.
