Moment when buffalo herd fends of lion will leave you shocked

An incredible footage has surfaced online showing the moment two lions try to take down a buffalo moments before its herd comes to the rescue.

The lions must have thought that it was an easy dinner when they spotted the old and injured buffalo but it seems that the big cats did not take into account the herd which was lurking nearby.

At the beginning of the clip, the lions can be seen going for the kill, as the buffalo tries hard to fight the vicious attackers. And for a moment it seemed that the lions would succeed.

But what happens next really is a shocker!

The clip goes on to show that there is a moment when the two lions even manage to drag the big bovine down to the ground but as the buffalo cries out in duress, his herd comes running back to fight off the predators.

Overpowered, the lions slink off sans dinner.
