While this one may sound extremely bizarre, it actually did happen! Fairly recently as well.

In a bizarre incident, a bus conductor from Tamil Nadu was put through questioning and issued a memo for allowing a pigeon to ride in his bus – without ticket.

The hapless conductor working with the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) was issued a memorandum for letting a pigeon travel on the window of a bus without a ticket. Reportedly, the pigeon was accompanying a drunken passenger in a window of the bus.

According to a report published in TOI, the incident that happened between Harur town and a remote tribal village, Ellavadi, saw transport department inspectors stopping the bus with its 80 passengers to check everyone’s tickets on the outskirts of Habur.

Incidentally that is the only government bus running between the two places.

It was during this time that the drunken passenger had managed to catch a pigeon and was having a drunken conversation with it.

The inspector noticed what was transpiring and asked the bird if he had issued a ticket to the pigeon

The conductor defended saying that the bird was not accompanying during the time of boarding. However, the inspector issued the conductor a memo.

A senior TNSTC official has told TOI since then that "appropriate action" will be taken if any rule was broken.
