The shift then from being a radio jockey to a fulltime social media celebrity and vlogger was tough for Hirschi.

With over eight million followers across Instagram, Facebook and Youtube, Alexandra Hirschi aka Supercar Blondie is living a car fanatic’s dream. The social media influencer who has driven super luxury cars like Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes AMG GTR Pro, Benz and BMW, to name a few, reveals that her love for cars comes from her home Australia. “We all drive in Australia and it’s such a big country that you need a car to get around. It’s such a driving culture. I spend so much time in cars and looking at cars,” smiles the 33-year-old.

However, it was after she moved to Dubai in 2008 as a radio jockey that her interest in cars grew. It was when Hirschi attended a supercar rally as part of her second job just eight months into being a radio jockey that she decided to quit and be around cars 24x7. “Coming to Dubai and seeing them everywhere just lit a spark. And just eight months into hosting the rally, I had about 50k followers on Instagram and brands started to approach me. I also figured that working two jobs was getting difficult. But soon, I realised that this is what I want to do and the very next day I quit,” recalls the social media influencer.

Talking about how she got her stage name, Supercar Blondie shares, “In my radio stint, I was handling their Instagram page which was called Radio Blondie, because of my blond hair. But then when I quit and went fulltime into supercars, I just replaced radio with supercar. That is how Supercar Blondie came into existence,” she laughs.

The shift then from being a radio jockey to a fulltime social media celebrity and vlogger was tough for Hirschi. “I’m a Virgo and I quite like schedules. And suddenly, I didn’t have a schedule anymore. So going to work every day and knowing what you will be doing had been the pattern that I followed. But when I started vlogging, I didn’t have a schedule anymore. I was working all the time and didn’t get any holidays,” she says.

A fan of Lamborghini Huracan, Koenigsegg Agera R and Rolls Royce Wraith, Hirschi learned the tricks of the trade on the job. “Learn as you go! It was just from experience. When you upload something, you check the response. It either works or it doesn’t. You start assessing the content that worked and which didn't work and then, you look for a different approach. This started to work for me. It’s all about trial and error and we continue to learn,” she smiles.

On her maiden trip to India, the social media entertainer is looking forward to hog on various curries. “I love curries. But I always end up eating butter chicken, so I have to go out and try a lot of things. I am excited to go out and see what there is to offer,” she says.

Describing her journey as a crazy whirlwind, Hirschi has had her share of highs and lows. “I won’t say the whole journey has been amazing. At the time, I would even question if I could go on, as it was so difficult. But I had people around me who supported me that it didn’t feel right to give up after coming so far, so I just kept going. And right now, at this point in my life, I am really thankful that I didn’t give up I have young women looking up to me, so it tells me that all my efforts have been made worthwhile. These girls coming up to me made me feel that I have actually made a difference. It feels really nice,” she concludes.
