Medical innovation and various products are available in the market help to ease the pain and discomfort associated with it.  In a conversation with Ms Gauri Singhal, Founder and CEO of FLOH, she shares some super helpful tips that will come handy for these days:

  • Take the herbal route

Experiencing period cramps accompanied by headaches, back pains and thigh pain is a common phenomenon. You can opt for herbal period pain relief patches that discreetly yet effectively soothe the cramping. With this, you can do away with any form of oral medication which might have side-effects. Another secret – some exercise, yoga and walking can help you steer clear of those cramping woes.

  • Don’t shy away; say it out loud

There is a dire need to be loud and express yourself. Pregnancy is celebrated whereas; people still treat periods in a hush-hush manner. Speak your mind so that they get an insight into your physical discomfort and various other issues associated with it.

  • Exercise your right to choose

Menstrual care does not restrict itself just to sanitary pads. Choose the best option that works best for you. There are many innovative products available in the market that can make you feel comfortable those five days. Choose wisely and look for a product that suits your lifestyle and bleeding patterns. For instance, with internal use opt for tampons if you have an active life like running, sports or even swimming. So why slow down!

  • Satiate your period cravings in a healthy way

It is no secret that dark chocolate can chase away your period blues. So, always keep some handy during that time of the month. Apart from that, it is also important to take a diet that is high in fibre and good fats. Indulge in green vegetables, fruits, soups, seeds and nuts to remain alert and active during periods. A spicy tip – add some aromatic species to your food to feel calm.

  • Give utmost importance to your hygiene

It is imperative that you give utmost importance to your hygiene and all the times. Make sure that you pay extra attention during those five days. Tampons and pads must be changed every 4-8 hours depending on the flow due to hygiene reasons. Make sure you dispose of your sanitary products in the bin instead of flushing them.
