Knock knee deformity was due to acquired Valgus deformities of both distal femur bones and proximal tibia bones, as found out on her pre-surgery x-rays.

16-year-old Tara Dangi from Udaipur, Rajasthan, had knock-knees which was causing her preambles in walking and running. These knock knee deformity was due to acquired Valgus deformities of both distal femur bones and proximal tibia bones, as found out on her pre-surgery x-rays.

Doctors at Narayan Seva Sansthan, where the surgery conducted, claimed that Tara had to undergo the Pre-operative software assisted planning of her case was done and it was decided to operate her in two stages. In the first stage both the thigh bones were operated in a single sitting. Both thigh bones (femur) were cut (medial close wedge osteotomy) and fixed with plates and screws.

Post surgery, physiotherapy was started from next day after surgery and Tara is walking from third week post-surgery. At one and half month post-surgery, Tara is very comfortably walking; her legs are straight and are very happy with the results of the surgery.

This planning enabled the operating surgeon to carry out corrective surgeries on both thigh bones in a single sitting. The bone was then fixed with plates and the patient was able to walk just three weeks after the surgery.

Another case, 20-years-old Anuradha Tiwari from Chandoli, Uttar Pradesh with Cerebral Palsy and a three-dimensional deformity of distal femur was operated recently at NSS and the bone deformity was corrected with this system. Now Anuradha is able to walk comfortably, bearing full weight on the operated limb. During the surgery, Ortho-SUV system is applied over traditionally used Ilizarov ring fixator system and then software planning is done to correct the deformity in calculated amount of time. The patient then follows very simple instructions of turning nuts of the rods which are fixed onto the bone and the deformed bone is gradually straightened.

Dr Ankit Chouhan M S Ortho at Narayan Seva Sansthan said, “We have operated two complicated case back to back with new strategy by software and apps at NSS for pre-surgical planning. Both correction surgeries helped the patients to walk after the surgery. Also, next move to correct remaining deformity in the tibia bone and also to increase the height of the patient by bone lengthening by Ilizarov method"

Mr Prashant Agarwal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan stated that Narayan Seva Sansthan has consistently evolved itself to continue on its mission of providing state-of-art reconstructive and rehabilitative services to all. We have broadened the spectrum of deformity correction services by inducting novel techniques like software assisted deformity correction system; pre-operative software assisted planning, use of 3-D reconstruction of radiographic images”.
