A child being born with birth defects is a rare occurrence but lack of awareness can make things worse for a child already suffering. Recently a boy near Mumbai was found to be pregnant with his own twin and the undeveloped male child was removed surgically.

In a similar incident, a baby in Rajasthan was born with a parasitic twin which two extra legs and an extra penis. While such children can be treated through surgery, lack of medical assistance and awareness could have led to drastic consequences since the family decided to dump the child in a river.

Fortunately news spread in the area and reached Bharat Pal Danda who runs a hospital, as he quickly sent an ambulance to pick up the child and the mother. The child’s extra limbs and intestine were then removed as he is now recovering at the hospital.

The child had three arms, four legs and two penises, and even though he was fine internally, the extra limbs created problems for the baby boy.
