Hormones affect a lot of things among people and they are also responsible for shaping an individual’s personality. A hormone related to sex may not seem to be linked to religion in any way, but there’s more to it.

Research has revealed that men who have higher testosterone are not likely to be religious. While previous studies have showed how being part of a community affects older men to be more religious, this is the first time biological mechanisms are examined.

Higher levels of testosterone are also connected to antisocial behaviour, aggression and cheating in marriage among men. While religious and political activities are believed to be shaped by culture and socialisation, they may have neuroendocrine roots.
