A blend of scrumptious food, lively music and enchanting performances is what can turn a dull day into a bright and sunny one. And that was exactly the sight yesterday as the week-long festival, Taste of Malaysia, to promote the culture of the tropical country, got an eventful start in the presence of eminent delegates.

The celebration marks the 62nd anniversary of India and Malaysia’s diplomatic relations. On the auspicious occasion, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to India, H.E. Dato’ Hidayat Abdul Hamid, expressed his gratitude to the cultural troupe from Sarawak in the Southeast Asian nation, who travelled all the way to showcase various dance and music forms in the inaugural ceremony. He also added, “Malaysia is one of the few countries that has people from different backgrounds and religions living together. They celebrate festivals of other races with the same enthusiasm as they celebrate their own. The country is known for its exceptional cuisine infused with spices and herbs that are deeply rooted in the traditional home-style cooking, where fresh, top quality ingredients and the flavours speak for themselves.” He wanted the guests present to get a sneak-peek of the essence of authenticity.

Chefs invited from the host country had prepared authentic dishes such as Rojak Buah, Keropok Ikan and Ayam Goreng Rempah, among many others, which were as appealing as the ambience.
