Friday night saw veteran designer Monisha Jaising showcasing her collection titled Opera at India Couture Week 2017.

The collection exuded exuberance via rich fabrics and airy silhouettes.

The colour palette transitioned from burgundy to rose pink and from metallics to ice blue. “Having been to the Opera in the past, the inspiration for my collection was triggered by the fond memories of the Opera house filled with people in their finest dresses. I have always found the whole process of displaying one’s finest exceptionally enticing,” said the designer.

Designer Varun Bahl closed the evening with an assortment of lehengas, jacket anarkalis, saris, and a mix of tailored couture pieces. The colour board was painted with ivory, pale pink, peach, burnt orange, pistachio, red, and old rose.

A separate blurb for Shilpa Shetty if possible:
Looking stunning as usual, Shilpa turned showstopper for designer Monisha Jaisingh donning an edgy and modern dress made out of traditional benarasi brocade that featured a long floor-sweeping trail.

However, the actor met with a small sartorial accident as her trail got stuck to nails not once but twice when she was strutting down the runway.

Unfazed by the obstacle, Shilpa cleverly moved her dress to pose for the shutterbugs and walked graciously back to the backstage area. Later, she laughed about the whole incident,

“I have been on the ramp several times. I love walking on the runway. That silly nail tried to pull me down today. But I can’t let anything take my shine away. I think at the end of it all, you have to look great in what you wearing and people should like it. I feel great in this piece.” Talking about her various sartorial choices, she said, “I try to do different stuff. Also, I like to be a trendsetter and not a trend follower. I’ll rather not do what somebody has done before or follow a trend blindly. Style has to be very personal. And I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career. But one tends to learn. I love the fact that I’ve learned from my own mistakes as it has made me wiser.”
