Jackets are an evergreen trend but they are mostly  paired with western outfits. But fashion is evolving everyday and now jackets are being sported with Indian outfits. From plain, embroidered and embellished jackets paired with lehengas, sarees and gowns. This has been sported by actresses like Daisy Shah, Karishma Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez. These designers tell us more about this trend.

“It’s a very classy trend. Pairing a jacket with a saree creates a style statement that is comfortable too. I feel that with every trend the most important factor should be comfort with style, ” says designer Deepika Sharma.

It’s important to get the jacket with Indian outfit look right. Designer Vibhuti Pandey suggests, “You can pair an indo-western dress perfect for a party  with a waist length sequin jacket. One can also create a style statement by just using a jacket as an accessory paired with a metallic watch.”

With this trend you need to be cautious too. Designer Dhanya Ram Kumar adds, “While sporting this look it is important not to go overboard. The look cannot be fancy as well as bold. I have seen a lot of off shoulder and cold shoulder trends but when wearing a jacket with a lehenga or saree, an off shoulder look will be nice. The overall look should either be classy or bold. One can look to Chinese collars, high necks and cape style jackets to give the outfit a nice touch”.

Since this trend adds the much needed drama to an outfit need it’s better to keep the accessories to a minimum. Deepika suggests, “I think that the simplest way to accessories this trendy look is to wear the right footwear. Wear denim with boots and jackets or Kolhapuris can be worn with a kurti and desi jacket.” Designer Dhanya recommends wearing this trend to brunch sangeets or brunch mehendis which have become popular now.
