What’s weird about the beard

A new study sponsored by a popular social video app found a correlation between having a beard and fighting, cheating, and stealing. Of the 2,000 men and women surveyed, between the ages of 15 and 55, who were asked a series of questions to determine their morality, psychology and general character, 45 per cent men with beards admitted to being in brawls, and 47 per cent said they’d been unfaithful to their significant other. About 40 percent of bearded men admitted to shoplifting. Around half of those surveyed had some form of facial hair, encompassing everything from a designer stubble to a bushy beard.
However, it is also interesting to note that the clean-shaven guys aren’t completely off the hook either. Twenty nine percent of baby-faced men said they’d been in a fight, and 20 percent admitted to infidelity. Only 17 per cent said they’d stolen something. But the nail in the coffin is that nearly half of the women in the survey said they’d rule out dating men with beards altogether because they find them unattractive and unhygienic.
Jens Wikholm, co-founder of social network eva, which commissioned the survey, commented, “In my photography career, I’ve certainly noticed that attitudes are shifting in regards to long beards and moustaches. Fashion changes so quickly, the beard trend is one that comes in every decade or so, but we might be seeing the end of current beard cycle. It definitely seems that women seem to prefer the clean shaven look and fashion will respond to that. Times change and trends shift, so men who want to stay on the bleeding edge of popular fashion might want to think twice before they let their facial hair get too long.”
