Racism has been an issue in the US and across the world for a long time and discrimination against people of colour has come under the spotlight in the past few years with black people being shot dead by police personnel creating outrage in US.

In such an environment, the rise of Donald Trump has seen several racist comments by the presidential candidates as he labels Hispanics as rapists and has called for a ban on Muslims in the country.

The possibility of him becoming president have triggered an environment of fear over rise in racist violence in the country, as he has also been linked to white supremacist groups in the past. Some are even reminded of the racial discrimination before the 70s, which was a grim era for black people.

A video from a documentary called ‘13th’ showing similarities between black people being manhandled in the 60s and people heckled at Trump rallies is a chilling example of what might be in store if the republican wins the polls.
