They have become expensive too — piling on diamonds and other exquisite materials within the few inches of space your face has to offer. So, without any further ado, here’s a list of some of the most expensive sunglasses ever made because, what’s protection without some style.

Cartier Panthere Glasses for Rs 1,08,12,866 It’s all white and bling. The Cartier Panthere series is entirely made up of 18-karat white gold. There are also 561 cut diamonds and over 600 cut blue sapphires! Reach deep into your pockets, very deep.

Chopard Sunglasses for Rs 2,72,10,000 And we have a winner now on the list. Swiss firm Chopard teamed up with luxury glasses manufacturer De Rigo Vision to create a pair that has thought of almost everything to justify that eye-watering price tag. The very tip of these sunglasses consist of 60 grams of 24-carat gold. The arms have gold in them and the trademark ‘C’ is in the midst of 51 cut diamonds totalling 4 carats.

The Lugano Diamonds Sunshades for Rs 18,37,215 Established in 1974, Lugano Diamonds is a jewellery firm that operates out of Newport Beach, California. To create this exquisite range of eyewear, the company teamed up with designer Barton Perreira who decided to bring in everything the world has to offer — including diamonds. These sunglasses come with gold frames, 2.85 carats of pink diamonds and there’s a leopard print option with 3.59 carats of black diamonds!

CliC Gold 18 Carat Gold Sport Sunglasses for Rs 51,03,408 It takes at least 50 hours to handcraft one of these. And that's because everything from the screws to those pads protecting the nose are made out that precious yellow stuff. The lenses too undergo a “special grind process” using Carl Zeiss tech and CliC even patented the magnets that hold the front together. Only a hundred of these were ever made.

Dolce & Gabbana DG2027B Sunglasses for Rs 2,61,04,765 If you’re against loud branding along the rims of sunglasses, shield your eyes. That D&G logo is encrusted with tiny diamonds, bright enough to leave everyone around for miles, quite impressed. These are easily one of the most expensive items being made by the Italian luxury giant.

Maybach The Diplomat I for Rs 40,81,500 How to celebrate one of the finest cars ever made Simple, accessorise the owners with these little babies. The company behind the famed Maybach released the Diplomat I some years ago to celebrate their legacy. Only 50 of these were ever made and the sunglasses feature 18-carat gold frames and over 170 handcrafted diamonds amounting to 1.18 carats. The lenses are polarised Carl Zeiss. Of course.
