A fresh new royalty is all set to be a promising face of the Bollywood brigade. At the age of 20, city-based Alisa Kkhan hailing from the lineage of Mohammad Nawab Ghaziauddin Khan, under whom Ghaziabad, Delhi NCR, is named, plans to stir up tinsel town. Having done over 12 superhit Punjabi music videos in the past, including some with Mika and Bally Sagoo among others, Alisa has set her steps in the film world. Just a film old, Alisa has already bagged a significant role in Vikram Bhatt’s next titled Aaina. Apart from this, the young actress has two more projects as the leading woman in her kitty. “In Aaina, I am paired opposite the serial kisser of the industry Emraan Hashmi. Being a newbie in the industry, it was a great learning experience to work with the Bhatt camp. Acting is a wonderful profession, which makes you travel across the world. We mostly shot the film in the picturesque landscapes of Melbourne, Australia. The film is slotted to hit the screens by December.” She was recently seen playing the main lead in a small-budget film My Husband’s Wife, where she played the role of a psychotic lover. Entering the entertainment industry is not a cakewalk, especially if you do not hail from a filmy background, believes Alisa. She says, “Making a mark in Bollywood is certainly not an easy task. I started working from a very early age of 12 and that too without a godfather! However, we are living in a century where Bollywood and even the audience have grown and have started accepting young and fresh faces. Directors are constantly on a lookout for younger talent. When I did my first film, My Husband’s Wife, I was offered several roles in the supporting lead too. But I am certainly not interested in being anybody’s side lead, so no supporting roles for me.” Very early in her life, this teenage actress who is soon to turn 20, saw her share of controversies too right from a lesbian attack from her co-star Rakhi Vohra to lashing out at people who compared her to the likes of Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra. “I had to make myself clear that I would not tolerate being featured in the league of Sherlyn Chopra, Poonam Pandey and their likes. My ambition is to become the next Preity Zinta for I am as cute as her or the next Katrina Kaif as I am that pretty,” says the young actress, who sounds a wee bit pompous but confident enough to be the next shining star of B-town. Being a hardcore Delhiite, Alisa has a weakness for everything Punjabi — be it the spicy food or the hearty spirit to work. “I did my schooling from DPS, RK Puram, and then went to England for further studies. I also did an acting course from Barry John Acting Studio. I believe Delhi is one of the most fashionable capitals of the world and growing here has definitely helped me in grooming my personality,” she says. When quizzed about her dream role, Alisa shares, “My dream role would be to be featured opposite Aditya Roy Kapur in Aashiqui 3 (if they make a remake), where I would like to project the essence of true love. I would like to do something all young girls can relate to,” concludes Alisa.
