Days when healthy activities such as outdoor sports or summer camps dominated the itenerary of children may be long gone, but a group called Brainstorm Entertainment is trying to bring summer fun back in all its glory with its upcoming International Kids Festival, an event aimed at equipping children with all the skills they need to not just advance to the next grade but also to a next stage in life.

Telling us about what made her conceive the festival, Vandana Krishna, the co-founder of Brainstorm Entertainment says, “As a mother, when I saw my own kids getting hooked to gadgets, I felt the need to step in. There was a need to create opportunities for children to interact on the physical plane — playing games, running, falling, getting muddy, climbing trees, and crying and laughing together — so that they stay grounded and empathetic to the world around them and that cannot be done with video games.”

Actor Sushant Singh will host a workshop on theatre, communication, better diction, phonetic clarity and expressiveness while model Sachin Khurana will work with the kids to improve their self-confidence and guide them to expand one’s circle. Celebrated choreographers Shiamak Davar and Marzi Pestonji’s expert teams will conduct a dance workshop on team-working and fighting stage fright. To explain the importance of nutrition and emphasis on the healthy lifestyle, Dr. Anjali Hooda, Clinical Nutrition Specialist will also host a session with the participants.

Among other events, the children participating will able to learn how to build self esteem and discover limitless opportunities through a workshop hosted by Sushant Kalra, who heads Parwarish Institute of Parenting, an organisation that works for the welfare of children. Avni Gandhi Varma, the founder of Transform With Avni, a finishing school that provides complete grooming and etiquette solutions will host a workshop on landscaping to understand the strength and weaknesses. Unleashing the creativity of children with focused techniques while they learn to create ad films will be hosted by Anu Mishra, child counselor and creative expert.

The four-day festival will be targeted at children aged between 5 to 12-years-old and aimed at engaging them in workshops to interact, challenge, play and share lifelong memories with one another,” adds Vandana.
