Indulge in puppy love on a cab ride

For everyone who’s ever thought “Wouldn’t it be nice if someone could bring me a puppy that I could cuddle for a while ” it looks like app-based cab provider Uber has heard your wishes.

For everyone who’s ever thought “Wouldn’t it be nice if someone could bring me a puppy that I could cuddle for a while ” it looks like app-based cab provider Uber has heard your wishes. To mark ‘Love Your Pets Day’ on Saturday, Uber has teamed up with two NGOs — People for Animals and World for All — to come up with “UberPuppies”, an initiative through which it will deliver puppies to your doorstep which you could cuddle for a good 15 minutes.

The initiative, which will be carried out in five cities — Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai and Nagpur, will be available through the Uber app’s UberPuppies feature for a selected duration today. Speaking about the initiative, an Uber spokesperson said, “Uber is all about giving riders an amazing experience, be it through chopper rides or rides in vintage cars and even yachts. We’re happy to bring UberPuppies to Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai and Nagpur and through our association People for Animals, we are eager to spread awareness about adopting puppies and hope as many find a home through this.”

“It’s inspiring to see companies get involved in activities that involve our four-legged stray friends. Thanks to the UberPuppies initiative, we now have the opportunity to reach out to a larger audience and spread awareness about our cause in an exciting and engaging way,” said Taronish Bulsara, co-founder and president of World For All Animal Care.

In Mumbai, the feature will be on from 2 pm-4 pm on Saturday and can be booked through the Uber mobile application. While it does offer “cuddle time”, the initiative is aimed at raising awareness about abandoned pets and pet adoption. And should you feel 15 minutes is too little to bond with your puppy, the initiative also helps people who want to adopt puppies.
