A family friendly two day festival has been organised in the city which will include a diverse range of activities for people of all age groups — performances from reputed artists, small workshops for children, live music shows and pop-up kitchens by renowned chefs and much more. The Eat India Company Fest has been conceptualised by Chandni Kohli Dhall and Rekha Pamani-Gulati and bolstered by names like Natures Basket, The Neon Project, 1314 Films and Radio One. To make sure that the hygiene is not compromised, Dettol has been roped in as the hygiene partner.
“Globally, we have so many festivals to celebrate food such as the Taste of London and Melbourne Food Festival but nothing as such in Mumbai. Family outings are just restricted to malls and movies in recent times. The best part about such festivals is that you can explore different kinds of foods and activities as per your interests, and nobody comes with preconceptions. It is exactly in such festivals that you see many communities coming together, leaving you with an enriching experience,” says Rekha Pamani-Gulati.
Along with 60 eateries one can immerse oneself into art and crafts for children. From marshmallow painting to making dream-catcher to creating bookmarks, the fest promises a lot of fun to the young guns. “Usually, when people step out to eat they have to follow a particular menu from one restaurant, but this gives them a chance to experiment,” says Ashish, founder of The Bombay Food Truck.
Expected to be a carnival by day, and fiesta by night, this fest will include live music shows in the evening by popular bands such as Astitva as well as flash mobs and children’s band, balloon art and impromptu games.
On December 12 and 13,12 noon- 10 pm, At the Mahalakshmi Race Course
