This is with reference to Patralekha Chatterjee’s article Is comedy a crime (June 2). Penalising someone for a joke is itself a joke. For the world’s largest democracy, our appetite for humour and criticism is really low. What Tanmay Bhat did was not a slander that you can penalise him for. Those involved in public affairs such as politicians, officials and celebrities must learn to accept both humour and criticism. The state cannot enforce “political correctness” on us.
