At a time when the nation struggles to ensure basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter to a substantial part of the population, the whole idea of “digital equality” is somewhat outrageous. Add to this discriminatory offerings such as “Free Basics” and “Airtel Zero”, and one ends up looking at a misleading campaign aimed at tapping the ever growing Indian market with little social accountability.
