Useless laws

The Domestic Violence Act 2005, in line with other social justice laws, is proving useless when the abuser belongs to an affluent family and the law-enforcement apparatus is largely corrupt.

The Domestic Violence Act 2005, in line with other social justice laws, is proving useless when the abuser belongs to an affluent family and the law-enforcement apparatus is largely corrupt. Even well-qualified and working females who are at the receiving end of domestic violence find it difficult to fight it out without facing physical assault and separation. Society needs to be sensitised through an apparatus of the state, including social justice volunteers, by ensuring exposure to the law of the land pre-matrimony and a vigil on newly-married couples.
