The situation in Nepal is spiralling out of control even as it blames India for the backlash from the Madhesis, Tharus and Janjatis that has resulted from the injustice meted out to them in Nepal’s new Constitution. The killing of Ashish Ram, an Indian, in police firing on the Nepali side, is testimony to India and Nepal’s fused geography in the Terai. It will be in Nepal’s interest to get its house in order, lest the spillover into India snowball into a crisis beyond its control.
