The soviet hand

Ashok Malik’s incisive article Soviet-jihad connection (Jan 11) stands out as a well-researched piece, contrary to the “Leftist-secular-liberal” drivel we see in much of the Indian media.

Ashok Malik’s incisive article Soviet-jihad connection (Jan 11) stands out as a well-researched piece, contrary to the “Leftist-secular-liberal” drivel we see in much of the Indian media. The seeds of the terror we see around us today were sown during the USSR’s occupation of Afghanistan for 10 years, during which one million Afghans were murdered. And Mani Shankar Aiyar is the gentleman who, during his student days in London, raised money and sympathy for China during the Sino-India war of 1962. As expected of his ilk, even after half-century, his ethics and loyalties have not enhanced.
