After his release from Tihar Jail Kanhaiya Kumar said, “My icon is Rohith Vemula”, while rejecting Afzal Guru, even as he said that Guru was punished by the law, which also allowed Indian citizens to “speak (up) about punishment”. Mr Kumar sounds more reasonable in conveying his political beliefs than those in power. The Centre could learn from him about politics and tolerance .
