It is sad to hear Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati saying that allowing women entry to the inner sanctum of Shani Shingnapur Temple in Maharashtra will lead to more rapes. His earlier statement — “Calamity strikes where those unworthy of worship are worshipped” — blamed worship of Sai Baba for the drought in Maharashtra. This makes one doubt whether religion is in sync with our reality today.
