According to a top US diplomat, Pakistan could face sanctions if it goes ahead with the multi-billion Iran-US gas pipeline project. America’s fear about Iran’s nuclear programme is understood, but to threaten Pakistan with sanctions for an economic partnership with Iran does not make sense. Instead, the US should impose sanctions on Pakistan for allowing its soil to be used by terrorists.
