Even the current chief minister is from the Patidar community. But now, as the state government lathi-charges Patels for demanding a greater share in the pie of government-run educational institutions and government jobs, it threatens the BJP’s political future in the state. This may even be a sign for the country to heed as it shows how the BJP repays its loyalists.
