The National Green Tribunal on Monday instructed the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to check the levels of industrial waste released into the Ganga. It has also formed a joint inspection team along with other pollution boards to examine the water quality of the river, which reportedly poses a health hazard to the vast multitude of people depending on it for sustenance.
