The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has asked the Centre to formulate a national population policy to check demographic imbalances and adopt a policy of persuasion through education to control population growth. The RSS also stated that it wanted population control to be religion-neutral and volitional, not forced like during the Emergency of 1977. In the garb of tolerance the RSS has made clear, in no uncertain terms, that high minority population growth figures will not be tolerated by it.
