Marathwada gasps
Both the previous Congress and the current Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena governments in Maharashtra are to blame for the parched state of Marathwada region.
Both the previous Congress and the current Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena governments in Maharashtra are to blame for the parched state of Marathwada region. This is the third successive year of drought there. Yet, the steps taken by the government are falling short. Shifting the Indian Premier League out of the state or cutting off water supplies to breweries and distilleries are feeble attempts to handle the water crisis. In Why water down IPL (April 18), Anil Dharker has rightly questioned whether “ordinary daily activities involving the use of water have been curbed anywhere” to avoid wastage of water across the state.
