While protests in Kaliachak, directed at the derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad allegedly made by a member of a right-wing group, went out of hand, the Trinamul Congress is right in terming it a law and order situation. If political parties, especially the BJP, are allowed in, communal tensions will escalate ahead of the Assembly elections due in the state this year.
