Coming after the news of a dalit couple being killed for a paltry sum of '15, the news of a policeman beating two labourers to death in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri shows that the law in India’s most populous state has gone to the dumps. The men were killed because they refused to pay a bribe of '100. Merely firing the policeman will not do.
