Mufti Muhammad Sayeed’s death has created a vortex in Jammu and Kashmir’s politics. With J&K under governor’s rule because Mehbooba Mufti deferred her swearing-in as chief minister, the state’s politics remains in a state of flux. The question is: Will the BJP-PDP alliance hold, or will Ms Mehbooba Mufti switch alliances and join hands with the Congress Either way, the people of J&K need a government and the politicians, in planning their course of action, shouldn’t forget that they are primarily answerable to the people.
