Some actors, politicians and sportsmen are treated like gods in India. I understand that politicians do affect the lives of people but building a temple to express gratitude is taking it too far. The news of a temple being built in memory of late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Bihar’s Buxar district is unpalatable. Glorifying and idolising a politician with a temple is an attempt to put them on a pedestal.
