Shobhaa De has rightly said that while Indian women deserve a medal for, well, being women and surviving the odds, we need to get real about our sports prospects (Enough of Rio, aim for Tokyo, Aug. 20). It is good to be proud of P.V. Sindhu and Sakshi Malik, and piling monetary rewards on them, but we need to set our sights on the Tokyo Olympics. Also, De was not off the mark when she tweeted, “Silver minted by Sindhu. Chandi ke baad sona!!!” In fact, it was prophetic. For all our development and chauvinism, we are also-rans in the Olympics.
