Actor Anupam Kher has equated the Prime minister with a “father figure”, whom one cannot question or call names, during the closing session of the Jaipur literature festival. Kher’s allegiances, in light of his march against “award wapasi,” clearly lie with the BJP government. While he was right in saying that “freedom of speech comes with a sense of responsibility”, he must know that such responsibility can only be exercised in an environment where such freedom is guaranteed. Kher has trumped reason with political bias.
