With respect to your editorial, Aadhar: Money bill was unnecessary (March 13), I would like to state that while the concerns raised were politically valid, the concern for privacy and data security were not touched upon. These issues remain largely unaddressed in the bill as well. Finance minister Arun Jaitley’s statement in Parliament about ensuring the protection of privacy of Aadhaar card holders is welcome. But he needs to qualify it by stating more clearly as to how this will be ensured once the bill becomes law.
