Cuba, one of the pillars of the now redundant Non-Aligned Movement, has toned down its anti-imperialist stance towards the US by hosting President Barack Obama and, perhaps, opening up its private sector to foreign investment. While it’s too soon to be optimistic about the outreach given the division within the US over this move, the symbolism of talks and outreach cannot be ignored. It is hoped that Mr Obama’s Cuba legacy is irreversible and is followed up on by his successors.
