A consortium of banks has moved the Supreme Court against industrialist Vijay Mallya. In less than a year after the Lalit Modi fiasco, it is another case of “evident” crony capitalism at play, one that shows the deep nexus between the political and the business class. It is outrageous to learn how some banks lent such huge amounts of money to Mr Mallya without collateral support. It has become somewhat of a trend to commit a financial crime and run away from the country. One hopes for a speedy trial in this case.
