Karnataka government’s outright denial to implement the Supreme Court’s judgment by passing an Assembly resolution is a clear case of “contempt of court”. The chief secretary or the Cabinet must be taken to task for dishonouring the apex court judgment, otherwise Assemblies across India would think fit to defy the apex court by passing resolutions. This open defiance is unhealthy for constitutional democracy to prevail.
