With reference to your editorial Water govt’s duty, not IPL’s (April 15) the Maharashtra and Central governments did nothing to tackle or minimise the effect of drought in the month of January or in the months before the IPL started. The water situation in drought-hit areas is not going to improve by shifting IPL matches in May. The government must find long-term and practical solutions, like linking of rivers, increasing capacity of reservoirs, water conservation through rain harvesting, etc.
