In his article, Focus on rural India, look at hunger index (Oct. 25), Sunanda K. Datta-Ray has rightly said, “...the government should devote far more attention to the countryside”. Unfortunately, instead of protecting labour-intensive sectors like farming, micro and small enterprises that contribute to 99 per cent of current livelihoods in the country, India is inclining to capital-intensive technology. India needs village-centric, labour-intensive “Make in India” to combat the irony of hunger and food wastage.
