I strongly agree with Anil Dharker’s views in his article Bihar: Going too far (August 8). The undue haste to ban liquor, calling it a social evil, without any such drive to prevent crimes like murder, rape and terror, is ludicrous. Moreover, the fact that special courts have been assigned for prohibition matters is more outrageous as more heinous crimes like rape and murder have no such courts to fast-track justice. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s anti-liquor crusade is more political posturing than public welfare.
