Since Mufti Muhammad Sayeed passed away, the People’s Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party are engaged in a battle. PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti says that the Centre should initiate Jammu and Kashmir-specific conifdence-building measures before the formation of a government in the state. At the same time, the BJP doesn’t seem to be prepared to cede ground to the PDP and appear humbled before Ms Mufti in the process. In such a scenario, the J&K governor N.N. Vohra should act tough and give a deadline because it is the state that is suffering.
