Battle for Bihar
Variously dubbed as a contest between good governance and jungle raj, and Mandal and kamandal, and one that could lead to celebrations in Pakistan if a certain party loses, the Bihar Assembly election
Variously dubbed as a contest between good governance and jungle raj, and Mandal and kamandal, and one that could lead to celebrations in Pakistan if a certain party loses, the Bihar Assembly elections present a microcosmic view of the eternal fissures in Indian society — religion, administration and caste. The use of demon epithets like shaitan (devil) and nar-bhakshi (cannibal) hint at a problematic ancient Aryan supremacist idea of Hindu-India that the BJP wants to perpetuate. Let’s hope Bihar shows India the way out of this darkness.
