The burning of a 30-year-old woman by her brothers, eight years after she married a man from a different caste, when she came to meet her relatives in Dungarpur district, Rajasthan, is a horrific reminder of how caste and “honour” continue to be more significant than a woman’s life. Every such instance of honour killing in India should make us hang our heads in shame.
