The Congress-led UPA government is leaving no stone unturned to woo the masses before the general election next year. After introducing important legislation like the Food Security Act and Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill, the government has now approved the formation of the new state of Telangana. Although it has garnered votes from Telangana supporters, the move has also seen resignations and calls for bandhs. Wooing the masses seems to come at a cost for the government.
