Indian off-spinner R. Ashwin has fired his way to the top of the ICC Test rankings, on the strength of his superb form against South Africa recently. Claiming 62 wickets in nine Tests, he played at an average of 14.38. That he started the year at 15th position and left Dale Steyn behind in the rankings makes the second instance of an Indian bowler topping the Test rankings since Bishan Singh Bedi.
