Former Pakistan foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar said Pakistan defence ministers were the most ineffective in the cabinet. In an interview with Al Jazeera Ms Khar said, the “ineffective” defence ministers knew nothing about the defence or the foreign policy of the country. To a question regarding her reaction when she got the news that Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was killed in the raid at Abbottabad, she said she was shocked. Citing the then former defence minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukh-tar that former President Asif Zardari and Army Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kayani knew Bin Laden was in Pakistan, the host sought her comments. She said, “The fact is the defence minister was not in the room and I was in the room. That’s a fact and I can assure you, the former defence minister doesn’t know the first thing he is talking about.”
